Who we help

Rural Manitoba farms, businesses, community groups and towns, with projects big and small. Fill out one form and we email you what fits.

Farms & ag businesses

Grain, livestock, mixed and specialty farms, plus ag businesses like seed cleaning, custom work and on-farm processing.

Programs we often look at

  • Sustainable CAP cost-share programs (on-farm efficiency, water, environmental and capital investments), which open and close intakes through the year
  • Efficiency Manitoba upgrades and business and farm solar rebates (pre-approval required)
  • Young and new farmer supports, ag financing options and Métis/Indigenous programs where you're eligible

Many farm programs are cost-share and reimburse you after you spend, often only on costs incurred after approval. We'll flag that early so you don't buy equipment too soon.

Métis & Indigenous businesses

Start-ups and established businesses owned by Red River Métis, First Nations and other Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Programs we often look at

  • Louis Riel Capital Corporation (LRCC) and MMF business programs for Red River Métis-owned businesses
  • Indigenous Services Canada and Aboriginal financial institution programs
  • Indigenous-specific streams such as Efficiency Manitoba's Indigenous small business program

We work with Métis and Indigenous-specific programs regularly and know what they ask for. Most need a business plan and proof of ownership or citizenship; we'll help you get the paperwork in order.

Small-town main street with brick storefronts in Souris, Manitoba

Small businesses

Main-street shops, trades, cafés, contractors, home-based businesses and anyone planning to start or grow.

Programs we often look at

  • Start-up and expansion loans (e.g. Community Futures, PrairiesCan programs)
  • Wage subsidies such as Canada Summer Jobs, plus training cost-share
  • Energy and lighting upgrades through Efficiency Manitoba

Grants for ordinary businesses are rarer than people expect; loans, wage subsidies and rebates are more common. We'll tell you which of these is realistic for your plan.

Rural community hall in Elgin, Manitoba

Non-profits & community groups

Rec centres, rinks, curling clubs, ag societies, halls, museums, daycares and volunteer groups.

Programs we often look at

  • Capital funding for buildings and equipment (e.g. Building Up Manitoba, community foundation and credit union grants)
  • Canada Summer Jobs, which covers up to 100% of minimum wage for non-profits
  • Arts, heritage and sport programs

Volunteer boards are busy, and everything happens by email so nobody has to book a meeting. We can write the application, prepare the budget and attachments, and keep track of reporting so you don't lose funding over a missed report.

Small towns & RMs

Municipalities, rural municipalities and local government districts with community or infrastructure projects.

Programs we often look at

  • Community facility and infrastructure programs from the province and federal government
  • Youth employment programs for summer staff
  • Help to coordinate several funders on one project

Municipal projects often stack several funders with different rules. We help line up the sources, budgets and council resolutions, and we track the reporting afterwards.

Program names are examples only. Eligibility and amounts change, so we confirm current rules before every application. See program examples.
